'When Someone Dies' booklet to be launched

A new booklet providing advice and support about what to do when someone dies is being launched at the end of the month.

The booklet brings together information on all the issues that may need consideration when a loved one dies from practical details like registering the death, local funeral directors and informing government agencies to how to contact support groups and where to go for advice.

Local organisations are working together to improve the care people receive during this time and ensure all the information they require is easily available. Having been produced in partnership by a number of local organisations, ‘When someone dies’ is a one stop guide providing comprehensive advice and support on what to do and gives some suggestions of organisations to contact for support.

The booklet has been produced by Care Plus Group, in partnership with North East Lincolnshire Council, St Andrew’s Hospice and Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.  Working in partnership, the organisations are aiming to raise the profile of improving end of life care within North East Lincolnshire.

Lisa Revell, Strategic Lead for Palliative and End of Life Care (N E Lincs) said:
It is hard enough when someone you love dies, let alone finding out what you have to do. This booklet provides up to date advice and information about the practical aspects of what to do when someone dies but also provides advice on how you may feel and where to go for support.

“Death touches us all and we want to improve the care and services people receive during this difficult time.  There is a commitment locally to improve end of life care through close partnership working between all the agencies”.
