Phone-users choose app-y way to right health care

CHOOSING the correct way of receiving health care is now as easy as picking up your phone – as more than 2,000 patients in Yorkshire and Humber have already discovered for themselves.

They have downloaded a Smartphone application, which gives users the names and addresses of their nearest A&E department, GP, NHS walk-in centre, dentist, 8 to 8 clinic, sexual health service or pharmacy as well as first aid and emergency advice and reminders about health appointments and medication.

Application user Richard Powell said: "I've had the Choose Well app on my phone for a while now and it's really useful.
"It helps me to decide which service to use and gives me all the details of how to get there.  Fortunately I haven't had to use it in a serious situation, but it has helped me to find the nearest pharmacy when I went on a trip to York.
"It's also got a reminder facility so I don't miss an appointment."

The app can be downloaded by going to iTunes online or via the NHS Yorkshire And The Humber website.
